Lucius Tiberius
UAE Prince
Historically this race has gone to unexposed handicappers, those with 10 or fewer runs in handicaps. These two fit the bill and these connections increasingly know how to win these C2 handicaps.
Lucius Tiberius – this one is ex-Coolmore and now runs for Godolphin, which is a further sign of their thawing relations in recent months.
Charlie Appleby never seems to be out of form these days and he’s red hot again, 4/10,5p in the previous 14 days with a handicap winner here already this week. Appleby and Doyle are 5/14,6p when teaming up at the track also.
This horse is unexposed and comes here fit and in form.
He ran ok at Epsom in a decent enough handicap where he could never reel back the leaders. He may well appreciate this more conventional track and I expect a big run.
UAE Prince – Roger Varian won this race in 2011 with Pekan Star and given this horse’s record fresh I can only assume he’s been aimed at this pot.
Conditions look ideal for him and he brings some decent big field handicapping form to the table – in better races than this one. He’s lightly raced for his age which makes me think they won’t waste any opportunity with him.
He appears to be best on good to firm and the Varian yard is also flying along – 8/40,19p in the last 14 days. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t tuned up for this and I expect a big run.
Best of luck!
