I’ve decided to take in some summer jumping at Worcester for Wednesday’s selections.
The track resumes racing having been flooded in recent weeks but this weather should ensure it’s drying out.

I’ve decided to go double handed with two horses from the excellent Dr Richard Newland yard. His is a smart operation and is expanding. Both of those below are new to his yard and he generally does very well with recruits from other stables- he’s generally a better trainer than most and finds extra improvement or his methods rekindle their enthusiasm for the game. He’s 4/16,7p with new recruits from other yards in the last year. His string are in red hot form also – 5/12,8p in the last 14 days. He’s also 5/20,11p at the track in the last year. With that said, to the horses…
2.20 – Samson
This 8 year old has the ability to win this race and even more so if the good Dr has found a bit more to work with. His mark should be fine, conditions look fine and the yard can ready them off a break, if they want them fit.
The horse drops in class here from recent assignments and some of his form looks strong – the second two starts back at Hereford is a race that’s working out very well, with plenty of subsequent winners.

5.20 – Brave Helios
This 9 year old is another new recruit to the yard who on plenty of pieces of form is well handicapped and even more so with his excellent claimers 6lb.
The fact the good Dr has booked a decent young pilot would indicate that this one could be ready to do some damage. Indeed Thorne is 6/31,12p, +33 in C5 handicap hurdles. This looks a weak enough class 5 and if he’s fit he would go very close to taking this.
Dr Newland does have two other runners on the card but I’ve gone with the two above, however you may wish to take a closer look at those.
