Liverpool welcome old rivals Manchester United to Anfield on Sunday with the home side in higher spirits than ever before in the Premier League era.
The Reds are unbeaten domestically, top of the table and fresh off the back of dramatically securing as place in the last 16 of the Champions League by beating Napoli.
United, on the other had, come into game in altogether different shape. Jose Mourinho’s men are sixth in the league, a full 16 points behind Liverpool, and lost a drab Champions League dead rubber against Valencia in midweek.

However, Liverpool haven’t managed to beat United in the Premier League in their last eight attempts. They did, of course, see off the Red Devils en route to the 2016 Europa League final, but Jurgen Klopp is yet to mastermind a domestic triumph over the Old Trafford side.
But the buoyant Reds can take inspiration from past Anfield heroes who have beaten United, even when the old enemy were at their most dominant.
