Inter Milan vs Roma
Saturday, 20th April – 7:30pm
Both these sides are in much better shape having won two of three unbeaten matches across the last few rounds of fixtures.
Inter have taken back third place from city rivals Milan and established a five point cushion, while Roma are only one point further back as they too have taken advantage of the poor spell endured by Gennaro Gattuso’s side.
However, the Giallorossi were hardly sensational in drawing with an under-performing Fiorentina and then in successive 1-0 victories over Sampdoria and Udinese in their last two.
Meanwhile, Inter put seven goals past bottom-half outfits Genoa and Frosinone as they successfully reincorporated ex-captain Mauri Icardi back into the fold, but they could only draw at home with top-six outfit Atalanta.
That leaves Inter just W3-D3-L3 over their last nine home fixtures across all competitions, while home or away, they’ve won just three of their last 11 against top-half sides in all tournaments (W3-D4-L4).
That doesn’t inspire huge confidence in their ability to take maximum points, though the same could be said of Roma, who have drawn five of eight winless encounters with the rest of the current top six this season.
Both meetings between the two sides in 2018 finished all square and with Inter too short to back on current form, while Roma seem incapable of mixing it with the best this term, the draw appears an attractive alternative.
