Liverpool secured an impressive sixth Champions League trophy on Saturday, when they overcame fellow English side Tottenham Hotspur in Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
The 2-0 result was also the sixth time that the Reds have kept a clean sheet in the competition this season, demonstrating how a rock solid defence has been a key component in their success under manager Jurgen Klopp.
Much of that defensively solidity can be attributed to star centre-back Virgil van Dijk, who has transformed Liverpool’s backline into one of the continent’s best.
