For Thursday’s post I’m focusing on this 8f class 2 handicap and I want the two above onside. In the last 10 renewals of this race, 9 winners came from the top 5 in the weight, so that’s where I’ve decided to focus.
Beringer – he wouldn’t be the biggest of prices here but I’d be surprised if he were out of the places and I do think he’s the one to beat. He looks progressive, conditions look idea, his yard are in red hot form and he again gets the services of Andrea Atzeni who’s riding at the top of his game. His run LTO was a career best on Racing Post Ratings and that would suggest he is progressive, and open to further improvement. Alan King does well with his LTO winners, and he looks sure to run his race here.
Plutonian – a bit of a poke but he’s the classiest horse in the race based on their ratings to date, he arrives here fit, in form and James Doyle rides. His trainer Charlie Hills also won this race last year and it’s not impossible this has been the plan. He has some decent form to his name, there could be more to come as a 5 year old, and he could just out-class these. He won his maiden on Good to Firm and all his wins have been on decent ground, so he may appreciate this return to firmer. He does stay further but races prominently. Hopefully he doesn’t get outpaced but he should be staying on all the way to the line and could out-run his odds.
Best of luck!
